TDO Ring FAQ

The TDO Sleep Ring is a wearable device that monitors your sleep and provides information about your sleep quality, including your Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) value. It is a small, lightweight ring that is worn on your finger during sleep.

The Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) is a measurement used to assess the severity of sleep apnea. It represents the number of apnea and hypopnea events that occur per hour of sleep. Apnea refers to a complete pause or cessation of breathing, while hypopnea refers to a partial reduction in airflow. The AHI value helps determine the severity of sleep apnea: a higher AHI indicates more frequent and severe breathing disturbances during sleep.

The TDO Sleep Ring utilizes advanced sensors to collect data about your sleep patterns, heart rate, oxygen levels, and movement during the night. By analyzing these data points, the device calculates your AHI value, providing insights into the presence and severity of sleep apnea.

The TDO Sleep Ring has been designed and validated to provide accurate results in measuring the AHI value. However, it is important to note that while the device can provide valuable information, a formal diagnosis of sleep apnea should be made by a qualified healthcare professional using a comprehensive sleep study.

The TDO Sleep Ring can provide useful data regarding your sleep quality, including the AHI value. However, it is not intended to replace a formal sleep study conducted in a sleep lab or by using specialized home sleep testing devices. The ring’s data can serve as a helpful screening tool, but a proper diagnosis of sleep apnea should be made by a healthcare professional.

The AHI value can help determine the severity of sleep apnea. Generally, an AHI below 5 is considered normal, while an AHI between 5 and 15 is classified as mild sleep apnea. An AHI between 15 and 30 indicates moderate sleep apnea, and an AHI above 30 indicates severe sleep apnea. However, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional to interpret the results accurately and determine the appropriate course of treatment.

Dental FAQ

Dental Sleep refers to a specialized branch of dentistry that focuses on treating sleep-related breathing disorders, such as snoring and sleep apnea, through the use of oral appliances or devices.

Dental Sleep treatment can have a positive impact on your health, particularly if you suffer from snoring or sleep apnea. These conditions can lead to various health problems, including daytime fatigue, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and impaired cognitive function. By addressing these issues with dental sleep treatments, you can potentially improve your sleep quality and overall health.

The most common dental sleep treatment involves the use of oral appliances, also known as mandibular advancement devices (MADs) or mandibular repositioning devices (MRDs). These devices are custom-made and fitted by a dentist to hold the jaw in a forward position during sleep, thereby helping to keep the airway open and reducing snoring or apnea episodes.

Dental sleep devices have been found to be effective in treating snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. They work by repositioning the jaw and tongue to prevent airway obstruction during sleep. However, the effectiveness may vary depending on individual factors, and severe cases of sleep apnea may require alternative treatments like continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

Dental sleep devices are designed to be comfortable to wear during sleep. They are custom-made to fit your mouth, and adjustments can be made to ensure a proper fit and maximum comfort. However, it may take some time to adjust to wearing the device, and some individuals may experience temporary side effects like jaw soreness or excessive salivation.

Yes, you will need a prescription from a qualified dentist or a sleep medicine specialist to obtain a dental sleep device. They will assess your condition, perform a thorough evaluation, and determine if you are a suitable candidate for such treatment. The dentist will then take impressions of your teeth and create a custom-fitted device specifically tailored to your needs.

Dental sleep devices can be an alternative for individuals who find CPAP machines uncomfortable or have difficulty using them consistently. However, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the most suitable treatment option for your specific sleep condition.
